This is one of the five simple rules that are the basis of the Stop Hunger Diet. Stick to these and you are well on your way to losing weight and keeping it off, and helping people too. See the other rules.
Its time to stop the tempting high fat and high sugar snack foods. When looking for a nutritious snack during the day fruit and vegetables are the number one choice.
It is recommended that every person should be eating at least 2 pieces of fruit every day. One serve is one piece of large fruit like apple, pear or orange, or two pieces of small fruit like kiwi fruit or apricot, or a small handful of grapes or strawberries. Fruit is an excellent snack because it contains fibre, micronutrients like Vitamin C, and fluid. Fresh fruit is the best option, but you can also include dried fruit, just be careful not to eat too much of it and include some water with it.
It is recommended to be eating 5 serves of vegetables a day, and what better way to help achieve this than to include some as snacks. Cut up any of the following; celery, carrot, turnips, fennel, cucumber, capsicum, mushrooms or tomato wedges and eat alone or add a tzatziki, hummus or salsa dip. Vegetables are full of fibre and micronutrients without added kilojoules, and best of all are fresh and crunchy.
The first aim of any weight loss program is to lose weight, the second aim of course is to keep it off. Not all diets are very good at one or both of these. By following these dietician designed "Stop Hunger Diet: 5 Rules to Live By", you will lose weight, not fast, but healthily and consistently, plus you will learn good habits that will help you keep off the weight. Good luck, and let us know how you go.
